The incumbent will serve in a Student Trainee (Information Technology) developmental capacity and receive on-the-job training in principles, concepts, and work processes to specialize in Information Technology Management fields of study.
Assignments build on prior training to expand the students understanding of the organization, the programs, policies and objectives of the agency.
Assignments will provide experience in the application of principles, procedures, and work methods to actual routine operating situations.
Assignments are oriented toward the concepts of Information Technology, Business Information Systems and Project Management from a curriculum relationship standpoint and are integrated with overall Information Management concepts and techniques in accordance with the functional setting of the training/work.
Assignments are designed to provide the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge and actual work experience in the field of information Technology.
The incumbent will receive instructions on the purpose, scope and limitations of assignments as well as expected deadlines and priorities.

Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-03, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
GS-3 Level Qualifications: Successful completion of one academic year of post high school education. (One academic year of undergraduate education is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in an accredited college or university).
Management prefers students currently enrolled in the following degree programs: Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Mathematics or closely related fields, OR a degree program that at least 24 semester hours in any combination of the following fields: IT, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, and Mathematics.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
